Over the course of this summer, I will be using this blog to give updates on my project at the Preservation Society of Chapel Hill. My project is to digitize photographs from slides, organize these photographs into practical categories for the society to use for the 40th Anniversary Celebration or other exhibits, and to create an online exhibit using some of the photographs, which are of a wide variety of subjects, including people and historic places of Chapel Hill. I am looking forward to learning more about the history of Chapel Hill, the Preservation Society, and the Horace Williams House through these photographs and hope that through cataloging them I will be able to help future researchers locate photographs related to their own projects. I also hope to create an interesting and educational online exhibit showcasing some of these great photographs.
To get started, I will be going through the photographs that have already been digitized to start finding useful categories to place the pictures into and to start getting a feel for what may make an interesting online exhibit.
