I conducted research for the City of Wilson for a potential outdoor exhibit about the history of banking in Wilson, North Carolina. I traced the history of banking from the 1870s through the present including the origins of BB&T (Truist) in Wilson, its connections to the growing tobacco economy, and the founding of one of few black-owned banks in the segregated Jim Crow south, as well as the impact of the Great Depression. I wrote a full report, drafted exhibit verbiage and sourced historic images for inclusion in possible future exhibit.
