SPC Mechanical, a long-standing family business in Wilson, North Carolina, sought to preserve its company history, legacy, and key documents for future generations. The client selected items for inclusion and I moved items from non-archival enclosures such as binders, acidic folders, etc. to archival (acid-free/lignin-free) folders and boxes, removed damaging fasteners (staples, paper clips, rubber bands), and instated an organizational system based largely on original order. I wrote a finding aid that identified locations of items in boxes at the folder level, providing detail on contents and making the collection more accessible.
