Great Reads from Great Places: The Tobacco Wives Virtual Panel

I was a panelist for the North Carolina Humanities’ virtual panel for their Great Reads from Great Places program featuring The Tobacco Wives by Adele Myers. The novel was set in North Carolina in 1946. I provided historical context to the book discussion during the event, including information on tobacco farming and factory work in the 1940s, women’s lives in the period, and tobacco advertising history.
